Our top video project was working with our AYV friends in Egypt. Hassan Shehawy is the AYV Lead Educator from that site. The idea was for six girls to share video clips and ask each other questions via Skype, Edmodo, and online videos.
We planned on having two different versions of this video. One from Egypt and one from Chicago using the same footage. What ended up happening is that a final two minute video was seen below. Everything else is extra footage, but it gives you an idea of how much the girls got to know each other.
There was a lot more that could have been done, but this was a good start. More importantly, the students learned a lot about each other and about another culture.

Title: Two Sides of the World
Artists: (L to R): Heba, Alia, Farah, Marisol (photographer), Anah, Caroline, and Melissa
Artist Statement: A group of girls from Egypt and Chicago have been talking and sharing stories. We’ve been learning about each others' countries. Getting to know other people from other parts of the world through video clips and online platforms was a great experience. We also loved how different people from different cultures can be, yet they manage to find what can draw them closer.
Most of the other combined footage can be viewed here:
Files were shared via Google Drive and YouTube.
(It is in a near final draft form.)
Test footage is below:
(Most of it was not used because of issues with sound or video quality.)
Part 1 - Three of our students started with this introduction. They needed to think of some questions to ask people in Egypt.

This is the first draft response from our friends from Egypt! Thanks to Hassan Shehawy, Alia, Fatma (who helped at this point of the project), and Heba! |

Part 4 - One of our students knows about the problems in Egypt and addresses them here.
